The Assault Begins Again.

After the despicable shooting of four Maimi Dade Police officers that ended with the murder of Officer Jose Somohano at the hands of Shawn Sherwin Labeet, the anti-gun pundits jumped at the chance to use Officer Somohano's death much like Palestinian Green Helmet stages & parades the dead bodies in front of the cameras.

But what really takes the cake is an AP report quoting ATF agent Carlos Baixauli in which be considered the biggest lies since "The check is in the mail" and "The dog ate my homework."

According to the AP article, Agent Baixauli stated that "In the early '80s to '90s, it was more common to have a handgun in your waistband and the bigger the caliber, the more powerful you were," Baixauli said. "Now it's escalated to the assault weapons." Funny he says that since during the push for the 1994 Assault Weapons Ban were were told that our streets were awash with those evil rifles because they were the preferred guns of gang members and drug dealers. Is Agent Baixauli stating that the Clinton Administration, The Brady Center and the Media were lying back then? Or maybe Agent Baixauli is forgetting that people do have memories and there is a thing called Internet where you can search old newspaper articles and interviews?

The next one is a jewel: "The guns are readily available on streets, Baixauli said, or can be ordered by mail for under $200." Oh really? By Mail and under $200? First, if somebody has Agent Baixauli's email address, please let me know. I want to lay my hands on a couple of those $200 Assault Weapons for my upcoming birthday and I want to know which stores sells them. Secondly, Agent Baixauli seems to be unaware that any legal purchase of firearms needs to go through a Federal Firearms Licensee and the buyer must pass an FBI background check in order to purchase the gun from such dealer. Again, Is Agent Baixauli outright lying while doing a political grandstand over the body of Officeer Samohano or is he just plain ignorant regarding the law. After all he is an agent of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms and he should be pretty much up to date on laws regarding the selling of firearms. And if he is not, maybe we are now figuring out why is that criminals get their hands on weapons and then go kill cops: Incompetent Federal Agents more interested in having their names printed in the papers and attacking law abiding citizen's rights than solving crime. Either way he should be ashamed of himself.
